Helen (Dzuranin) Snyder

LORAIN - Helen Snyder (Dzuranin), age 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, July 19, 2013 after a long managed battle with illness. She has been a resident of Lorain for many years moving here from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
She worked as a secretary for U.S. Steel, National Tube in Pittsburgh, PA and Lorain, OH, retiring from Lorain City Schools in 2008. She enjoyed traveling, cooking and spending much time with her family.
She is survived by daughter, Cynthia M. Humm (David) of Carmel, Indiana; son, James M. Snyder (Maggie) of Chicago, Illinois; daughter, Marie L. Arndt (Dr. Scott), of Westlake, Ohio; son, John C. Snyder (Cathy) of Canton, Michigan; 13 grandchildren; and brother, Stephen Dzuranin, of Murrysville, Pennsylvania.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Snyder in 1992; her parents, Mary and John Dzuranin; brothers, John and Michael Dzuranin who resided in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The Snyder family will receive friends on Sunday, July 21, 2013 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Closing prayers will be said on Monday, July 22, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Peter, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. Rev. Fr. Craig Hovanec, Pastor, will officiate. Private family interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park, North Olmsted, OH.
In lieu of flowers family suggest contributions be made in memory of Helen to The Life Raft Group, 40 Galesi Drive, Wayne, New Jersey 07470, a research and support group for those suffering with GIST.
