Janice S. Merrill
WELLINGTON – Janice S. Merrill, 68, of Wellington, died Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at her home following a one year illness. On September 12, 1942, Janice was born in Oberlin to Lyle and Julia (nee Mikloda) Green.
Janice graduated Firelands High School before attending cosmetology school. After raising her children she and her husband then moved to Iowa for 13 years before returning to the Wellington area in 1998.
Janice was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and served as a 4-H advisor in Camden. As a member of the Brighton United Methodist Church, Janice was an active volunteer both in her community and abroad - she went on several mission trips to Honduras.
She greatly enjoyed gardening, animals and reading. Janice's other hobbies included collecting antiques and traveling with her husband.
She also dearly loved her granddaughters and appreciated every moment she spent with them.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Eugene, whom she married in November of 1962; daughters, Anna Binnie, of Wellington, Melissa Merrill, of Wellington and Roberta (Matt) Plas, of Elyria; and granddaughters, Laura, Jillian and Erin. Janice is also survived by sisters, Sharon (Keith) Sandrock, of Kipton and Sandy Krupp, of Wellington. She was preceded in death by a baby girl.
A visitation will be held Saturday February 4, 2011 at the Brighton United Methodist Church from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Janice can be given to Well-Help, 127 Park Place, Wellington, OH 44090.
