WILDER, Ky. - Lynette Ruth Gasser (Butler) of Wilder, Kentucky left this world on February 7, 2013.
Lynette was a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, a treasured friend, a tea connoisseur, and a hero. She was born on July 20, 1946 in Lorain, Ohio to Cleotis McCreary Butler and Doris Butler (Eglinski) and raised an only child. She graduated Admiral King High School in 1964 and married Fred William Gasser on August 25, 1970. Together, they raised two children, Jason William Gasser of Cincinnati, Ohio and Erika Lynn Stuart of Fort Thomas, Kentucky. In 2008, Lynette was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer. She battled the insidious disease for 4 years and 3 months, and in her final days her doctors advised her that her fortitude and positive attitude continued to serve as an inspiration to countless of her fellow cancer survivors, bringing hope where there might have been none.
Lynette is survived by her husband Fred, her children Jason and Erika, their spouses Jennifer Ann Gasser (Flood) and Matthew Glen Stuart, and four grandchildren, Emma Bryn Gasser, Andrew William Gasser, Ethan Val Stuart, and Evan McCreary Stuart. Lynette was preceded in death by her parents, and by several aunts and uncles.
A memorial service will be held at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Amherst, Ohio, on Saturday, March 9th at 11 a.m., with burial to follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park. Donations in Lynette's name may be made to either the Lung Cancer Alliance ( or St. Peter's United Church of Christ (or to a church of your choice).
