Martha "Marty" Mae Deidrick
AMHERST - Martha "Marty" Mae Deidrick (nee: Kress), 82 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at New Life Hospice Residential Center in Lorain following a brief illness.
She was born August 26, 1930 in Vermilion, Ohio. Marty was raised in Vermilion and graduated from Vermilion High School in the class of 1948. One of her fondest memories of that time was being crowned May Queen by her classmates. She had made her home in Amherst for the last fifteen years.
Marty was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was employed at General Motors
for twenty years working in the plastic and stamping department before retiring. Her hobbies included cooking, gardening and playing cards. Marty enjoyed playing the organ. Her pet dogs and cats gave her great joy.
She will be missed by her husband of sixty-three years Clair Norbert Deidrick; her daughter and her husband Cynthia and Robert Cutlip of Lorain; granddaughter Melissa Cutlip and her brother and his wife Donald and Janna Kress of Vermilion.
Marty was preceded in death by her infant daughter Renee Deidrick; brother Kenny Kress; sister Ann Sapienza and by her parents Paul and Leda Kress (nee: Lee).
Friends may call Friday, October 5, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Rev. Chris Robinson, Chaplain, of New Life Hospice, will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the New Life Hospice; 3500 Kolbe Road, Lorain, OH 44053.
