Mary Henrietta (Dandrea) Abraham

AMHERST - Mary Henrietta Abraham (nee Dandrea), 93 years of age, of Amherst passed away peacefully at her home Sunday July 8, 2012. She was born September 1st 1918 in Cecil, PA to the late Carmella (nee Volpe) and John Dandrea.
Mary graduated from Lorain High School in 1936 and then went on to study at Oberlin Business College. As a young women Mary was employed by the Thew Shovel and for her father John Dandrea Construction as a bookkeeper. After marrying her late husband, James J. Abraham, Mary resided in Amherst for 70 years. She worked along with her husband, owner of Mischka's the popular restaurant and homemade chocolate candy store, for 50 years in downtown Amherst.
Mary was ahead of her time by eating healthy and staying fit. She exercised regularly for 40 years often times with the Jack LaLanne program. She loved gourmet cooking, gardening and most of all being with her family.
Mary was a beloved mother of Sandra Bitar (Dr. J.C. Bitar) and dearest grandmother of J. Bryant Bitar and dear aunt to many and friend to all.
The sister of the late Laura Nardini, Dorthy Ferracane, John Dandrea and Pauline Feicks.
"I am thankful my mom always looked after me with a loving heart. I admired my mom for her love for life and all the beauty life possesses, as well as her dedication to always do her best for her family and community."
"She was an incredible person and the best grandma I could ever ask for. We had so many memories over her healthy 93 years in this world. Some of my favorites were just having lunch at her house reminiscing the past, talking about Cleveland sports and current events. I will always be grateful for everything she did for me and I know she will be smiling down on us with all her love for the rest of our lives."
The Bitar family will receive family and friends at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Ave., Amherst, Monday July 16th noon until time of service at 2pm. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
