Mike Kozopas

LORAIN - Mike Kozopas, age 83, of Lorain, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2012 at Amherst Manor Nursing Home.
Born April 7, 1928 in Elyria to the late Theodore and Julia (nee Harbowy) Kozopas, he graduated from Clearview High School in 1947. Mike served in the U.S. Army for 2 years, and had served in the Coast Guard as well. For many years, he worked as a machine punch operator at General Industries in Elyria, where he retired from in December, 1989. He enjoyed fishing and playing cards.
Mike leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Helen (nee Gargus); his daughters, Joyce, of Lorain, and Carolyn (Jeryl) Griehm, of Wilmington, OH; and 2 grandchildren, Michael Griehm and Carrie (Chris) Beaty.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Steve and John, and his sisters, Anne March, Mary Szmania and Rose Biro.
The family will receive friends at a memorial and luncheon gathering on Saturday, March 10th, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. in the Gathering Center of the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst. Private inurnment will be held the family at a later date in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
