LORAIN - Mildred ""Toots"" (nee Vinovich) Bunevich, 93, a lifelong resident of Lorain, fell asleep in the Lord on Monday, Oct. 8, 2012 in The Gardens of French Creek at Avon Oaks Caring Community, Avon.
Mrs. Bunevich was born on March 8, 1919 in South Lorain, Ohio, daughter of the late Jovo and Jeka Vinovich.
Mildred was employed at the former Bomber Plant in Cleveland for a three year period during World War II and later retired from General Industries in Elyria after 25 years of service. Mildred enjoyed reading, watching basketball and baseball and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan. She had a great fondness and love for children. She had attended Oakwood and Whittier School.
She was a longtime member of Ss. Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church in Lorain where she was involved with the St. Mary Sisterhood and pierogi making at the church. In her youth, she was a member of St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in Lorain where she sang in the choir.
Toots Bunevich was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Dan Bunevich, on March 24, 1997; by her sister, Mary ""Mim"" Vukelich and by brothers, Milan, Joseph, Rudolph ""Rudy"" and George ""Cappy"" Vinovich.
Survivors include a grandnephew, Theodore (Milana) Vukelich II, of Coral Springs, Fla. and their son, Theodore III; dear friends, Dia Dobos, of Avon, Ohio and Joseph, Barbara and Maggie Conley, of Lorain, Ohio; nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church, 2238 East 32nd Street, Lorain, Ohio where a Parastas will take place at 6 p.m. Friends also may call on Thursday, Oct. 11 at the church from 9 a.m. until time of services at 10 a.m. which will be conducted by the Very Reverend Fr. Basil Stoyka with internment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain, Ohio.
Toots and her family would like to extend their deepest gratitude for the loving care and compassion shone to her by the staff of The Gardens of French Creek. Memory Eternal! Vechnaya Pamyat!
