Nancy L. (Loughry) Brown(1942-2014)

AMHERST - Nancy L. (nee Loughry) Brown, 71, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Mercy New Life Hospice after a brief illness.
Nancy was born June 8, 1942, in Kingwood, West Virginia, to the late Ralph and Adeline (nee Koch) Loughry. She moved to Amherst in 1964 and was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst. Nancy's additional memberships included American Legion Post 118 Auxiliary in Amherst, Amherst Democratic Women's Club, Lorain County Federation of Democratic Women and Remember Cruisin Car Club. She was a charter member of Amherst Downtown and Betterment Association. From 1995 to 2001, Nancy served on the Board of Lorain County Seniors Association. She also had worked on several campaigns of Lorain County candidates. Nancy was a member of Amherst City Council from 1991 to 2002.
Survivors include her son, Robert W. (Marie) Brown Jr. of Amherst; daughter, Dawn (Robert) Albu of Lorain; and grandchildren, Michelle, Ryan and Brandan Albu, and Lauren Brown.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Robert W. Brown Sr. in 2007.
Family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Ave., Amherst.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst. (Everyone please meet at the church.) The Rev. Lawrence N. Martello, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Cleveland Street Cemetery, Amherst. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Dr., Amherst, OH 44001.
