NEW LONDON - Orlo W. Hartley, Jr., 70, of New London, died Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center, Norwalk after a brief illness.
He was born January 18, 1941 in Greenwich and lived most of his life in New London. He graduated from New London High School in 1960 and worked at Ford Motor Company in Lorain, where he retired in the late 1990's. Orlo was a proud 26 year member of AA. He was very active in several chapters, where he touched many members lives. He loved to hunt, fish and enjoyed watching NASCAR racing and had been a driver at the Mansfield and Sandusky speedways.
Survivors include his children, Scott Hartley of Collins, Lynn (Renee) Hartley of New London and Darren (Julie) Hartley of Wakeman; 7 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; companion, Rilla Mobberly of New London; father, William Orlo " Bill" Hartley of Westerville; siblings, Rhoda (Dick) Alejandro of Westerville; and Walter (Sylvia) Hartley of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and his sister-in-law, Fay Hartley.
Orlo was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Hartley; mother, Doris E. Hartley and brothers, Raymond and David Hartley.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 30th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main Street, New London where services will be held Friday at 11 a.m.
