Richard Eugene Brown
LORAIN - Richard Eugene Brown, 84, passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at MICU of Mercy Medical Center in Lorain after a short illness.
He was born on June 2, 1928 in Powhaton, Point, Ohio.
Richard served in the United States Navy
in Korea. He came to Lorain in 1950. He worked for Ford Motor Company Lorain Assembly Plant retiring in 1992 after 30 years of service. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 30, VFW
Post 451, past member of Fraternal Order of Moose and Eagles, Mercy Regional Medical Adaptive Sports program. He was an avid bowler and went to 15 ABC Tournaments. He enjoyed camping and bird watching and he never met a stranger.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy C. (nee Kennedy), sons Barry Randy Crews of Berlin Heights, Ohio and daughter Suzanne C. Crews-Howington. He is also survived by his children from his former wife Mary J. Brown (Kovach): David M. Brown of Eminence, Ky, Dennis E. Brown of Reynolds, Ohio, Timothy J. Brown of Lorain, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; brothers Vernon E. Brown of Amherst, Ohio and Tom D. Brown of Carson City, Nev.
He was preceded in death by his son Rickey G. Crews, grandson Joshua Brown, parents Newell Brown and Neva M. (nee Townson) Brown and brother Darrell Brown.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, January 6 from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Walter A. Frey Funeral Home, 700 West Erie Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44052. Funeral services will also be held at the funeral home on Monday, January 7, 2012 at 12 noon. Burial at Ridge Hill Memorial Park with full military honors by VFW Post 451 and American Legion Post 30.
