Robert Arthur Reinecke
ELYRIA - Robert Arthur Reinecke, 89 of Elyria, Ohio, formerly of Sheffield Village, Ohio, died Tuesday, afternoon, February 12, 2013 in the Wesleyan Village, Elyria.
He was born on April 21, 1923 in Redfield, South Dakota to the late Ruth E. (nee: Pool) and Frederick A. Reinecke. Mr. Reinecke graduated from Michigan Tech with a Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering. He served in the 500th Engineer Light Pontoon Company, Germany and River Assault Crossings and Bridge Building in the U.S. Army during World War II
during which he received the Fame Theater Medal w/1 Bronze Star
, the American Theater Medal and the Victory Medal; he was discharged as Captain of Combat Engineers. Mr. Reinecke was employed as a chemical engineer at the Fisher Body Plant, Elyria before retiring on June 1, 1985. He was a life member of AMVETS, Post 47 and a life member of the Elks, #1301, Lorain. Mr. Reinecke was an ardent bowler and golfer. Among his accolades are the 721 which he bowled on the Fisher Body Salary league, becoming a member of the 700 Club; he was the Tournament Manager of the 54th annual Ohio State Bowling Association Tournament. In June of 1988 and August of 1994, he scored eagles on the fifth hole and the fourth hole respectively at Carlisle Golf Course.
He is survived by his daughter, Gudrun Ruth (Ronny) Boyd of Oak Creek Wisconsin, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Reinecke was preceded in death by his wife Ruby Elizabeth on August 5, 2007, his daughter, Joyce Charlotte Lian and his sisters, Joyce and Eunice.
Graveside services will be Monday, February 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp., Ohio with The Rev. Mr. Ron Dietrich officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by the Louis Paul Proy Chapter No. 20, DAV and the US Army Reserve. The Walter A. Frey Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
