Shirley Diane Golden Whitfield(1949-2011)

Shirley Diane Golden Whitfield passed gently into God's loving care on December 27, 2011, following a lengthy illness.
She was born on January 21, 1949, in Atlanta, Georgia. She came to Lorain, Ohio at the age of three and has spent the last thirty-three years in Sheffield Village, Ohio.
She was a 1967 graduate of Admiral King High School, St. Joseph School of Practical Nursing, Lorain County Community College - ADN, and received her BSN from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. She worked at Lorain Community Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital, and spent the last 16 years of her nursing career as a nurse manager at the MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio.
She enjoyed traveling, music, reading, shopping and her grandchildren.
Shirley will forever be cherished by her mother, Mrs. Virginia Golden; two sisters, Johnnie Mae Cabbil and Linda Turner; and a brother, John Golden Jr., all of Lorain, Ohio; two sons, Robert Reed (Kellie) and Daryl Whitfield (Melinda), both of Columbus, Ohio; and a daughter, Stephanie Reed DeLaney (Eric), of Willoughby, Ohio; grandchildren Porsha, Brogan, Robert Jr., Alexus, McKayla, Miles, Darius and Darek; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her father, John A. Golden; and her sister, Pamala Jean Golden.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service was held for her Saturday, December 31, 2011 at New Bethel P. B. Church, Lorain.
