Elyria Township: William R. Francis, Jr, 81, of Elyria Township, died Tuesday Dec. 24, 2013, in the emergency room at EMH Regional Medical Center in Elyria.
He was born Aug. 15, 1932, in Findlay, Pa., and had resided in Elyria Township since 2007 moving from Amherst. He had resided in the Lorain area most of his life.
William served with the US Army during the Korean War
. He worked for Gross Plumbing as a plumber retiring in 1991. He was a member of Hungarian Reformed United Church of Christ in Lorain and the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union.
He is survived by his children, William R. Francis III of Matthews, N.C., Tyra Moore of Scottsdale, Ariz., Sana Mason of Waynesville, Mo., Ronald A. Francis of Richardson, Texas, Lynelle Robinson of Elyria and Faira Corbett of South Amherst; ten grandchildren; and brothers, Harry and Earl Francis.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy M. Francis (nee Black) in 2006; parents, William R. Francis Sr and Bessie L. Francis (nee Horr); and brothers, George and David Francis.
The family will receive friends Friday 5 to 8 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain, where a prayer service will be held Friday at 7:30 pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 am in the funeral chapel with the Rev. Peter Toth, pastor of Hungarian Reformed United Church of Christ in Lorain, officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain.
