Gary Michael Kriesen

WELLINGTON – Gary Michael Kriesen, 62, of Wellington, died Monday, September 28, 2015, at the Cleveland Clinic surrounded by his family. He was born on August 20, 1953 in Lorain to the late Merle and Janet (nee Metler) Kriesen. Gary grew up in the Lorain and Amherst area and was a 1972 graduate of Marion L. Steel High School. He later moved to Wellington.
Gary served with the Avon Police Dept, and then spent 37 years working at Oberlin College, becoming their supervisor of security. He was awarded the Star of Life. Gary was an active member of the Wellington First Baptist Church and their Iron Men group. He was baptized along with members of his family at the Faith Baptist Church in Amherst. Gary was a Red Cross certified CPR instructor and a volunteer with the Wellington Aux Police Dept.
Gary was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the University of Michigan and the Cleveland Brown, and was a talented golfer. Most of all Gary cherished time spent with his children and his grandchildren.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 32 years Debra (nee Bouch); children Jason (Michelle) Coward of Oberlin, Jamie Sikora of Wellington, and Michael (Amanda) Kriesen of Avon Lake; grandchildren Megan, Sean, Rachel, Brianna, Morgan, Roman, Kendra, and McKenzie; Nephew Ryan (Marcie) Wheatley and their children Lauren, Gwendolyn, and Logan; and his trusty companion his dog Bandit. He was preceded in death by his brother Jan Kriesen, sister Patricia Wheatley and nephew Sean Wheatley.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday, October 1, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main Street, Wellington, where services will be held on Friday beginning at 11 a.m. with Rev.
