Buford O. "Boo" Harris Sr.
LORAIN - Buford O. "Boo" Harris Sr., age 74, of Lorain passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, June 28, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on February 25, 1939 in Charleston, West Virginia to Carl and Mildred (nee Buzzard) Harris. He attended Clearfork High School in West Virginia.
He began working for General Motors, Brook Park/Parma in 1957 as a tow motor operator, retiring in 1987 after 30 years of service. Buford was an avid pool player, shooting pool for numerous organizations throughout the area. He was a member of the Romanian Club and enjoyed gardening and fishing. He found great pleasure spending time with his family and friends.
Buford is survived by his wife, Frances "Sue" (nee Cook), with whom he would have celebrated 55 years of marriage with on August 15th; sons, Buford Jr. (JoAnn), Jerry (Patty), Donald (Julie) and Carl (Diane) Harris; his daughter, Loretta (Mike) Frazier; grandchildren, Michael, Karleigh, Austinn, Lindsey, Danny, Cristol, Makenzie, Jessica, Stephanie and Allison; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, John (Louise), of Dorothy, West Virginia, Paul (JaneAnn) of Dorothy, West Virginia, James (Reba), of Artie, West Virginia and Michael (Gilda), of Newport, Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Mildred Harris and his brother Roger Harris.
The Harris family will receive family and friends on Monday, July 1, 2013 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. A Prayer and song service will be held on Monday at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral center. Pastor Sam Williams, of North Eaton Church of God in Grafton, will officiate. Private family interment will take place on Tuesday, July 2, 2013.
