HENRIETTA - Charles L. Berg, age 93, of Henrietta, died Saturday November 3, 2012 at New Life Hospice in Lorain.
He was born on July 17, 1919 in Henrietta Twp., and has lived here his entire life. He graduated from Henrietta High School in 1937. He was a life long farmer and dairyman. He served as Henrietta township clerk for 24 years, member of the Lorain County Farm Bureau, and was a 50 year member of the Grange. He was a life-long member of the Henrietta United Church of Christ where he served as Elder and Deacon for many years along with singing in the choir. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, bowling, and was an avid sports fan of OSU and the Cleveland sports teams.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years Idabelle (Peabody), brothers, Ralph Berg, of Henrietta, and Earl (Geraldine) Berg, of Henrietta, three nieces, Grace (Rev. Randall) Gehres, of, Orville, OH, Ruth Anne (Kenneth) Searles, of Dafter, MI, and Jennifer (Brent) Westover, of Vermilion, a godchild, Lois Logan, of Henrietta, a brother-in-law Glen Gerstacker, of Henrietta, and a sister-in-law Vivian Peabody, of Oberlin.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Mary (Heidrich) Berg and his sister Kathryn Gerstacker.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of services at 11:30 at the Morman Funeral Home, 16 Cooper Street, Wakeman. Pastor Paul Eaton of the Henrietta United Methodist Church will be officiating. Burial will follow at Birmingham Cemetery.
