SHEFFIELD LAKE - David L. Brown, 69, of Sheffield Lake, formerly of Avon, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at home following a lengthy illness. Mr. Brown was born August 17, 1944 in Redlands, Calif. and had lived in Avon for 15 years before moving to Sheffield Lake 8 years ago.

Mr. Brown was a member of US Navy serving in the late 1960s, in the 1970s he was a bell captain in Las Vegas and then once settling in the Lorain County area he worked for Parker Hannifin, Ridge Lumber and most recently Vectron, Elyria where he had worked for 15 years in the maintenance department. He enjoyed fishing, day trips to the French Creek Reservation with his family; he was an Indians and Browns fan and more recently he enjoyed playing along with TV game shows. Mr. Brown also enjoyed races at Lorain County Speedway.
Mr. Brown is survived by his wife of 33 years Shirley M. (nee Kinzel); daughters Laurie Boldin (Joseph) of Broadview Heights, Leeann Snider (Craig) of Vermilion and sons Todd Kinzel (Cindy) of Sheffield Lake, Richard Kinzel (Kim) of North Olmsted and Keith Kinzel of Akron. Other survivors include grandchildren Julianna, Melissa, Bobby and Matthew and great grandchildren Ethan, Riley, Gracie, Roman and Jaxson.
He is preceded in death by his parents Paul and June (nee Whitby).
Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, 32000 Detroit Rd., Avon from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday. Funeral Services will be Monday, January 13 at St. Mary Church, 2680 Stoney Ridge Rd., Avon at 10:00 a.m. Meet at church. Fr. Thomas Cleaton of the church will officiate. Interment will follow in the church's cemetery.
