Frank A. "Duke" Black
SHEFFIELD LAKE - Frank A. "Duke" Black, age 80, a lifelong resident of Sheffield Lake passed away Sunday, June 30 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky due to heart failure.
He was born July 22, 1932 in Sheffield Lake, the son of the late Frank and Doris (nee Kindig). Frank served in the
as a corporal and received the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal with 6 Bronze Service Stars, and the Presidential Unit Citation. He was a self-employed Barber at the Shoreway Barbershop retiring in 2007. Duke was an avid bowler and enjoyed dancing and antiques.
Mr. Black is survived by five children, Daniel Black of Texas; Debra Black of Sheffield Lake; and Susan Robinson, Kimberley Morris and David Black all of Lorain; and eight grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his longtime companion Jean Hagerty.
Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, 163 Avon-Belden Road, Avon Lake from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 5. Burial will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.
