James A. "Sarg" Lester
SHEFFIELD LAKE - James A. "Sarg" Lester, 84, of Sheffield Lake, passed away on March 19, 2013 at the New Life Hospice Center following a lengthy illness.
He was born July 20, 1928 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Following high school he entered the U.S. Army and retired as an E9 Command Sergeant Major after serving with the military for more than 30 years. He was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Lorain, a member of the Mystic Knights Motorcycle Club for over 30 years, and a former Boy Scout leader.
James will be sadly missed by his wife of 27 years, Fannie L. Young-Lester; his sons, Bobby A. Lester of Chattanooga TN and Antonio Lester of Atlanta GA; stepsons, John McNeil of Lorain and David McNeil of Akron; special niece and nephews, Juanita Marbury and Terrance Deadwiley, both of Hammond IN, George T. West of Cleveland and great niece, Idella C. Deadwiley; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Candise Lester; sisters, Bernice Howard, Eloise Baths and Idella C. Deadwiley; brother, Wayne Lester; stepsons, Maurice Young and Freddy McNeil.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 27, 2013 from 11am until time of service at 12pm at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1516 E 30th St., Lorain OH 44055; Rev. Donald K. Young is officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
