Mary Goldie Zboran
Mary Goldie Zboran (nee Rado), 85, formerly of Lorain, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2012 at Elaine's Personal Care Home in Lilburn, Georgia.
Born October 24, 1926 in Lorain, she lived here until moving to Georgia in 2005.
Mary attended Lorain High School and graduated from the Cleveland Academy of Cosmetology and Cosmetic Therapy in 1946. She also attended the New York Hair Design Institute.
A licensed beautician since 1948, Mary worked for White Cross Beauty Salon, Wallace Beauty Shop, Kay's Beauty Shop and Sue's Beauty Salon all in Lorain, and Pierre's Beauty Salon in Cleveland. She also had managed Hollywood Beauty Shop and O'Neil Beauty Salon both in Lorain. Mary owned and operated Mary's Cosmetic Case in Lorain from 1960 to 1978.
Mary was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Elyria, and the Women of the Moose where she had served as Mooseheart Chairperson at one time. She was formerly active in the Cosmetic Therapy Association and the National Hairdressers Association.
Surviving is her son, James E. Zboran of Loganville, GA.; 4 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; a brother, William Rado Jr., of Amherst; and a sister, Sharon Lalak of Huntington, CA.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Steve in 1996; parents, William Rado in 1996 and Mary H. (nee Kelley) Rado in 1990; her son, Thomas G. Rancher in 1958; and sisters, Evelyn, Emma and Helen.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be Saturday at 9:00 a.m. followed by mass at 9:30 am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 41295 North Ridge Road, Elyria. Rev. Fr. Donald H. Dunson, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
