Nathaniel West passed away on October 20, 2012 in the Amherst Hospital Specialty Unit after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Ripley, Tennessee coming to Ohio at the age of 13.
Nathaniel was employed at Ford Motor Company and General Motor and finally Ohio Edison until he retired in 1997.
He was a Veteran of the U.S.
and was a Guitar player in a Blues Band called Dupree, where he was one of the lead singers.
Nathaniel enjoyed watching old Western Movies, traveling and being with his family.
He leaves to mourn his wife: Mary West (nee Curry) of Lorain, OH, daughters: Rita Rader of Nashville, TN, Rozena Ammons of Elyria, OH, and Harriet (Elliehue "Button") Moore of Elyria, OH, sons: Mark, Ethan and Darrick all of Elyria, OH, step-daughters: Philline (Robert) Ballard, Sharon Hitchens, Tracy Hitchens, Janice Hitchens and Norma Hitchens, step-sons: Eric Curry, and Anthony Curry both of Lorain, OH, God-Daughter: Shirley Glover of Lorain, OH, sister: Elizabeth Sanders of San Antonio, TX, 30 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents: George Henry West and Harriet Ellen West, Step-Mother: Pauline West (nee Taylor) and daughter: Shafaye Bond.
Friends may call Friday, October 26, 2012 from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. in the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 3900 Clifton Avenue, Lorain, Ohio.
