ENGLEWOOD - Mrs. Asleaner DeVere Wright Palmer, passed away on January 21, 2013 in Englewood, Ohio. She was born March 11, 1917 in Franklinton, LA to James Wright and Gussie Wright Watson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Harry L. Palmer and her five sisters: Mrs. Della Wright Colston, Mrs. Nettie Wright Roberts, Mrs. Olla Wright, Mrs. Jessie Wright Crawford and Mrs. Vera Watson Brumfield.
Survivors include daughters: Shiron Palmer, Janice Holmes (Earl), and Renee Palmer; grandchildren: Michael Haley, Shiron Jones (Edward), and Jasmine Eastin (Myles); great-grandchildren: Haley Jones, Mykah Jones, Edward Jones, Miranda Eastin, and Noah Eastin, Other survivors include goddaughters: Brendlyn Faison (David Spears), and Frances Leath as well as her many nieces and nephews in LA, NY, FL, WA, OH, NM, the children of her sisters, and many close friends in Lorain, Ohio.
Mrs. Asleaner Wright Palmer was a native of Louisiana where she became a proud graduate of Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She lived most of her adult life in Lorain, Ohio where she and her husband, Harry, raised their three children and established lifelong associations and close friendships. The establishment of these friendships began decades ago at Fulton Homes, Wesleyan United Methodist Church, and Lorain Public Schools. She was a faithful, devoted member of Wesleyan United Methodist Church where she served in many roles for over 60 years until she relocated to Columbus, Ohio and then to Dayton, Ohio. The Les Charmettes was another organization in which she served and developed lasting friendships. As a teacher in the Lorain Public School System, Mrs. Palmer taught third grade at Lincoln Elementary for nine years and fourth grade at Lakeview School for ten years until retiring in 1982. Mrs. Palmer loved gardening, growing houseplants, bowling, crocheting, talking on the telephone with her friends and watching sports on television with basketball being her favorite. She was a devoted fan of the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians, and Cleveland Cavaliers.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 26, 2013 in Avon, OH. The family appreciates all of the letters, cards, and telephone calls that were sent after her relocation from Lorain, Ohio. She cherished fond memories of her life in Lorain, Ohio. At Mrs. Palmer's request, there was a private service for family followed by interment at Resthaven Memory Garden Cemetery in Avon, Ohio.
