Betty Lou Johnson
AMHERST - Betty Lou Johnson (nee: Bailey), 76 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Friday, December 7, 2012, at Mercy Allen Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Betty was born June 1, 1936 in Broadhead, Ky. Amherst has been her home for the last 45 years.
Betty was a devoted housewife and loved spending time with her family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of Harbour Town Community Foursquare Church in Vermilion.
Survivors include her sons Wayne Johnson and his fiancé Sheila Hiteshew and Michael Johnson and his wife Linda both of Vermilion; grandchildren Kristin Hendrickson and her husband Jonathan, Stephanie Johnson, Joshua Johnson and Kari Johnson; great grandchildren Ethan and Oliver Hendrickson; sisters Dorothy Denney of Crab Orchard, Ky., Faye Wiegand of South Amherst and Sue Wilson and her husband Ed of Amherst.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Carl Johnson on June 24, 2010; several brothers and sisters; and her parents Delver and Mary Bailey (nee: Brock).
Friends may call Monday, December 10, 2012, from 5-8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Jim Cooper, pastor of Harbour Town Communtiy Foursquare Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst, Ohio.
