AMHERST - Carolyn E. Beckett (nee: Moore), 72 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at New Life Hospice Residential Center in Lorain following a long illness.
She was born August 24, 1940, in Marlinton, West Virginia. Carolyn had made her home in the Lorain and Amherst area for most of her life. She attended Clearview High School.
Her primary focus in life was that of being a homemaker. Carolyn enjoyed traveling and wintering at the family home in Florida. Her hobbies included collecting jewelry. She loved taking care of her Yorkie, Molly.
Survivors include her husband of fifty-two years Edward Beckett; son Terence Beckett and her daughter and her husband Tamhra S. and Charles Phelps all of Amherst; grandchildren Steven, Aaron (Christine), Michele and Abby.
She was preceded in death by her parents Asa and Olive Moore (nee: Friel).
Friends may call Sunday, July 14, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 15, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Jerry Harper, pastor of Abundant Life Christian Center, will officiate. Burial will follow at Crownhill Cemetery, Amherst.
