Catherine T. "Katie" Lines
LORAIN - Catherine T. "Katie" Lines (nee Dabrawsky), age 94, of Lorain, passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, April 21, 2013 following an extended illness.
Katie was born in McMechen, West Virginia on February 14, 1919 and had been a resident of Lorain since the early 1940's.
A parishioner of the Catholic Church of St. Peter, she had been employed as a cashier at the Broadway Customer Service Center of Ohio Edison, and its successor, First Energy Company. She retired in 1980 following a career that spanned twenty-five years with the utility company.
In her free time she enjoyed bingo, working with ceramics and tour bus excursions.
Survivors include her son Tom (Jolyn) residing in Amherst, granddaughters Jamie Back (David) of Cincinnati and Allison "Ali" Wirth (Shane) of Loveland, Ohio, five great grandchildren, and sister Jenny Dorinski of Youngstown.
Mrs. Lines was preceded in death by her husband Harvey in 1990, by her parents Dennis and Anna (nee Okulic) Dabrawsky, by brothers Edward and Theodore "Teeter", and by sisters Josephine Toman and Anna Kedwards.
Visitation will be Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of closing prayers at 10:30 a.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Avenue with the Reverend Craig M. Hovanec, Pastor of the parish presiding as main celebrant and Reverend James P. Schmitz, Pastor of St. Stephen Catholic Church in West Salem serving as concelebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Katie's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and caregivers at Autumn Aegis Nursing Home for the kindness, care, and the friendship they exhibited during her period of residence there.
Memorial contributions are encouraged to the Catholic Church of St. Peter.
