AMHERST - David J. Conetsco, 79, of Amherst, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 after an illness of several months.
He was born in 1931 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, to the late Frank and Mary (nee Ciesielski) Conetsco and resided in Continental 2 and later on Easy Street. After serving as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict, he returned to marry his waiting fiancée, Laura June Moore. David was a retiree of the Cleveland City Water Department and AdvanStar. The joys of his life were his family, his yard and his truck. He was a regular contributor to his church's food bank and was the "dog father" to many canines during his life.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Laura, three children; Cheryl Conetsco of Columbus, Indiana, David Michael (Cheri) Conetsco of Falls Church, Virginia, Laura Slotta of Amherst, and three grandchildren; Nicole Rasmussen, Amber Slotta and Kathryn Slotta.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sisters Martha Galida, Rita Horwath and Theresa Kosisko, and his brothers Chester and Edmund Conetsco.
Family will receive friends 2 - 4 & 6 - 8 p.m., Sunday, January 2 at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Avenue, Amherst. The funeral mass and burial are private and will take place Monday, January 3. Rev. James Mazanec, associate pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, will officiate the mass and burial.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged to local food banks and humane societies/animal shelters.
