HURON - Delbert A. Cole, 94, of Huron, died Monday, March 11, 2013 at the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky.
He was born September 18, 1918 in Sheridan, MI and moved to Huron in 1963 from Royal Oak, MI.
He graduated from Michigan State University in 1950.
He worked as a Civil Engineer for the Corps of Engineers from 1950 to 1962 and then worked for NASA from 1962 to 1974. For the next several years he worked as a consultant in private practice.
He was a US Army Veteran and served in WWII and received 13 medals including 2 Bronze Stars.
He was a member of the VFW and American Legion locally; the National Association of Retired Federal Employees; a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers; and the National Society of Professional Engineers. He enjoyed traveling and gardening as past times.
He is survived by a daughter, Patricia (Richard) Terrell of Okemos, MI; two sons, Doug (Lynn) Cole of Monroeville, and Gary (Lynette) Cole of Norwalk; 4 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Kilgore of Greenville, Michigan; and 2 brothers, Donald Cole, Grand Rapids, MI and LaVern Cole, Reed City, Michigan.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Grace (Van Gilder) Cole; parents, Frederick and Phoebe (Pendell) Cole; and 3 brothers, Kenneth, Lewis, and Lyle Cole.
Friends may call Saturday, March 16th from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m. at Foster Funeral Home & Crematory, 410 Main Street, Huron. Rev. Vince Cooper, pastor of Oasis Assembly of God Church, Norwalk, will officiate.
Burial will be in Scott Cemetery, Huron, with Military Honors.
