Diane Frances Taylor (nee: Wantuck), 74 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Monday, January 15, 2018, at Kingston of Vermilion, following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born July 8, 1943, in Buffalo, New York. Diane was raised in Clarence, New York before moving with her family at the age of fifteen to Amherst where she had made her home for the last fifty-nine years.
Her primary focus in life was that of a homemaker and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Diane was employed at Bell Services, a division of PC Campana. She was also employed at the Amherst Library for fifteen years. While her husband David was the Mayor of Amherst, Diane was the First Lady of Amherst for twelve years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst where she sang in the choir. Diane was a member of the Twig Benders, the Red Hat Society, the Amherst Historical Society and the Amherst Community Choir. She volunteered her time with the Children's Development Center. In her spare time, she could often be found reading literature to enrich her Catholic faith.
Among those who will cherish Diane's memory are her husband of fifty-six years David Alan Taylor; her daughter Lynn Andrews (David) of Amherst; her sons John David Taylor (Kitte) of Bay Village and Robert Cameron Taylor (Katy) of Dublin, Ohio; her grandchildren Sarah Andrews, Matt Andrews, Ella Rising (Rob), Rowland Taylor (Elise), Mia Taylor, Tessa Taylor, Kaylee Taylor and Kamerine Taylor; her great granddaughter Savannah Rising; her brother Ronald Wantuck of Ann Arbour, Michigan and her sister Jeanette Clotz (Dennis) of Amherst.
