ELYRIA - Edmund J. "Stick" Stawicki 71, of Elyria passed away Saturday December 10, 2011 at home surrounded by his family due to complications of lung cancer. He was born March 19, 1940 in Elyria. Ed was a 1958 Elyria Catholic High School graduate, and then had served in the U.S. Navy. Ed was a member of St. Agnes Church. He retired as a fabricator with Elyria Concrete Step, and had previously worked as an Elyria Police Officer and a Liquor Control Agent for The State of Ohio. Ed loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a Life Member of The Elyria United Polish Club and had served as its past Vice President. Ed loved golfing with his sons, bowling, and fishing. Survivors include his wife of forty nine years; Barbara L. (nee: Smith) a daughter; Lisa A. Davis (Bill Mercer) of Elyria, three sons; Earl E. of California, James M. and Eric A. (Lisa) both of Elyria. Additional survivors include twelve grandchildren; Sarah (Ryan), John (Kayla), Billy, Miranda, Brandon, Nolan, Dillon, Dalton, Matthew, Rachael, Emerson, Brayden, and two great grandchildren; John VI, and Ryan, three sisters; Sondra Webber, Judith Legeza and Paulette Kelley (Patrick) all of Elyria. Ed was preceded in death by a son; Christopher M. Stawicki (DeeAnn), his parents; Edmund S. and Jennie (nee: Kowlewski) Stawicki and a brother; Thomas (Rita) Stawicki. Friends may call 4-8PM Tuesday December 13, 2011 at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd, (at St. Rt. 57) Elyria (440)322-4626 where closing prayers will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday. Funeral Mass 10:30 AM Wednesday December 14, 2011 at St. Agnes Church 611 Lake Ave. Elyria. Rev. Fr. Albert Veigas, and Rev. Fr. Charles J. Ryba will concelebrate mass. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria where V.F.W. Post#1079 will provide full military honors. Memorial contributions in Ed's memory can be sent to 43099 N. Ridge Rd. Elyria, OH 44035.
