Frank A. Jankowski LORAIN — Frank A. Jankowski, age 86, of Lorain, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2013 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, Ohio, He was born in Lorain on September 24, 1926 and remained a life-long resident of Lorain. Frank was a World War II Veteran of the United States Army where he fulfilled duty assignments as a Corporal in both Europe and the Philippines. He was the recipient of the Army Occupation Medal as well as the World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Jankowski was employed as a Control Room Operator for the Ohio Edison Company retiring in 1982. In his free time, he enjoyed baseball, bird watching, solving crossword puzzles, and keeping up on current events by reading the newspaper. He received the greatest enjoyment, however, from watching his grandchildren grow up. Frank is survived by his daughter Mary Ann Campbell (Tom) who resides in Sandusky along with twin grandchildren Kristen and Trevor Campbell. He was preceded in death by his wife Veronica (nee Petrosky), by his parents Anthony and Anastasia (nee Klik) Jankowski, by brothers Edward, Anthony “Boxer”, Bernard “Bruno”, and Hank, and by sisters Stella Dobriezewski, Josephine Kowalski, and Mary O'Brien. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will begin in the funeral chapel at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. in nativity B.V.M. Catholic Church with Reverend Robert Glepko, Pastor of the parish presiding. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery where joint military honors will be conducted by V.F.W. Post #451 and American Legion Post #30 both of Lorain.
