George F. Hastings
SHEFFIELD LAKE – George F. Hastings, 88, peacefully passed away at New Life Hospice Center, Lorain, OH on Sunday, April 27, 2014 after an eight year battle with cancer. He was born April 25, 1926 in Lorain, OH, and attended Lorain High School before entering the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a retired machinist and his hobbies included fishing, reading westerns, watching Nascar, wrestling, the Cleveland Indians and cooking.
George will be missed by his wife of 14 years, Donna I. Hastings (Handley) of Sheffield Lake, OH, and her children, Kathleen Whaley (Mark Nixon) Vermilion, OH, Kevin Handley (Marcia) Grafton, OH, 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
He is also survived by son, Lance Hastings (Mary Ann), granddaughter Katie Feria (Jared) of Gainesville, FL and 3 great grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his first wife Erna Hastings (Sankovich), his parents Andrew and Mary Honoshsky and his brother Edward.
Memorial service will be held 7:00 PM, Friday, May 2, 2014 at Christian Heritage Assembly of God Church, Avon, OH where he was a member.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to Christian Heritage Assembly of God, 36465 Chester Rd., Avon, OH, 44011 or New Life Hospice, 3700 Kolbe Rd., Lorain, OH, 44053.
