George Fredrick Rippon CLARKSFIELD — George Fredrick Rippon, 74, of Clarksfield, died Monday, April 22, 2013 at his home. Born on January 14, 1939, in Bowling Green, son of the late George Amos and Dolores (Ridenour) Rippon. George graduated from Western Reserve High School in 1958 and moved to Clarksfield in 1959. He served in the Army National Guard in the early 1960's. George worked at the former Ohio Body Manufacturing in New London and Ford Motor Company in Lorain, where he retired in the early 2000's. He was a member of the Moose in Willard, Gravley Tractor Club and UAW. George attended the Wakeman Congregational Church. He bred, trained and showed Dobermans and owned several obedience grand champions, he was also an avid reader. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Eleanor Jean (Wargo); daughters, Dawn (Dennis) Miller of Louisville, Ohio and Denise (Rich) Smothers of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Tabetha (Bill) Norris, Zachary Smothers and the grand dog, Alex Miller; great grandchildren, Ian, Lydia and Gianna Norris; brother, Thomas (Bonnie) Rippon of Norwalk and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Bonner. Visitation will be held on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London. Service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Matthew Reed. Burial will follow in Clarksfield Methodist Cemetery.
