Geraldine C. "Gerrie" Flaczynski Obituary
LORAIN - Geraldine "Gerrie" C. Flaczynski, 78, of Lorain, died Friday, October 8, 2010 in New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph after a short illness. She was born May 24, 1932 in Lorain where she has been a life long resident. She graduated from Lorain High School in 1950. Gerrie retired from Nordson Corporation where she worked as a secretary for many years. She also had worked for Nelson Stud, the City of Lorain, and the Lorain Welfare Department. She was a life long member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Lorain where she was active as an officer with the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of Women Helping Others (WHO), Black River Historical Society, Cleveland Polka Association, United Polish Club, Elyria, and Birth Right. She had previously been active with the Lorain Head Start Program, St. Joseph Food Pantry, Lorain Youth Center, and PLAV Drill Team. She enjoyed bowling, gambling, going to the theatre, and baking. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and helping others. She is survived by her sister, Eleanor (Robert) Romes of Lorain; Aunt, Florence (Frank) Sislowski of Lorain; numerous nieces and nephews, several cousins, and a large extended family. Preceding her in death were her parents, Stanley and Katherine (nee Siatkowski) Flaczynski; brother Ralph C. Flaczynski and an infant brother Stanley Flaczynski. Friends may call Monday, October 11, 2010 from 4-8 pm at the Dombrowski-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio where the Altar and Rosary Society will have a Rosary service at 6:00pm. Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010 at 10:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church,418 W. 15th Street, Lorain. The Rev. Robert J. Glepko will officiate Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
