LORAIN - Gloria E. Cordero (nee DeJesus), 74, of Lorain, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2013 at her residence in Lorain, surrounded by her loving family, under the care of New Life Hospice, following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Patillas Puerto Rico on May 19, 1939 and had lived in Lorain since 1949. Gloria was a graduate of Lorain High School who had been employed as a Teacher for Head Start. She was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel in Lorain. Gloria enjoyed spending time with family, baking, especially cookies, flowers and gardening, visiting the sick and teaching children at Head Start. She truly was a loving wife, mother, sister and aunt.
Survivors include her loving husband of nearly 50 years, Luis Cordero; sons, Roberto Cordero of Lorain, Ralph Cordero of Cleveland, and Luis Cordero of Arizona; brothers, Joseph DeJesus, Ralph (Rosemary) DeJesus, and Manuel (Carmen) DeJesus, all of Lorain; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Dolores (nee Colon) DeJesus.
Friends may call Sunday, June 30, 2013 from 5-8 p.m. at Wyers Funeral Chapel 2900 North Ridge Road Sheffield Township. Mass of the Christian Burial Monday, July 1, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel 4301 Pearl Ave. Lorain, with Fr. William A. Thaden, Pastor, as Celebrant. (Please meet at Church). Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
