NORWALK - Hazel Joyce Smith, age 99, of Norwalk, died Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center.

She was born February 19, 1912 in Florence Township, Ohio to the late J. Arthur and Pearl E. (Joyce) Bilton. She attended Birmingham School and her first job was an usher at the Norwalk Theater. She became a live-in housekeeper at the Hills fruit farm in Berlin Heights for many years. She was married in West Hartland United Methodist Church on April 16, 1938, where she became a member in 1935. She also served on the church Board of Trustees and Administrative Board. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was an avid cook, sewer, canner and gardener.
She is survived by her loving children, Wayne (Patricia) Smith of Norwalk, Dean Smith of Norwalk and Roger Smith of Cheney, WA; 13 grand children, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; sisters, Gladys Perkins of Benton Harbor, MI, DeLaurace Cooke of New London and Arlyse Bricker of New London; and a brother, Eugene Bilton of Norwalk.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alan G. Smith in June 2003; sister, Marion Myres; and brothers, Floyd Bilton, Harry Bilton, and Darrell Bilton.
Friends may call on Friday, November 18, 2011 from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk, also Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home. Pastor Brian White will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Norwalk.
