Helen R. Caruso LORAIN — Helen R. (nee: Garro) Caruso, 96, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, surrounded by family and friends at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain, Ohio. Helen was born on February 14, 1917 in Lorain, Ohio and was a life-long resident. She graduated from Lorain High School and married Albert J. Caruso on January 12, 1946 when he returned home from WWII. Helen devoted her life to her family as a homemaker and raised her two loving sons, Albert Jr. and Robert. She was a member of St. Mary Church in Lorain since 1970 and Helen enjoyed volunteering with St. Joseph Homeless Shelter, Bingo, Food Bank and Hunger for Harvest. Her hobbies included traveling to Las Vegas twice a year, casino bus trips with friends and dining out. She is survived by her son, Robert C. Caruso; daughter-in-law, Judy Caruso; granddaughter, Adel; and loving nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert J. Caruso Sr.; son, Albert J. Caruso Jr.; parents, Charles and Mary (nee: Gerace) Garro; and sister, Nancy Rizzo. The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain (440) 244-1961 on Sunday, April 28, 2013 from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. Closing prayers will be held at the funeral home on Monday, April 29, 2013 at 9:20 a.m. and a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 310 8th St., Lorain, Ohio, Fr. Daniel O. Divis, Pastor, officiating. Christian burial services will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain, Ohio.
