AMHERST - Irene (nee Bomba) McCourt, 93, of Amherst, passed away Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015, at her home after a short illness.
She was born in Lakewood on June 29, 1922, to the late Joseph and Susanna (nee Stirbrich) Bomba. An Amherst resident since 1962, she was a homemaker and member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Amherst. She enjoyed bridge, golf and spending time with her family.
Irene is survived by her loving children, Bill (Pam) McCourt of Vermilion, Jim (Chris) McCourt of Amherst, Kathy McCourt Thomas of Avon Lake, Marlene (Doug) Sanker of Rocky River, Kim (Jeff) Banks of Avon Lake; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her sister, Ruth Krupp of Yardley, Pennsylvania.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, James E. McCourt (1985); sisters, Ann Donnely, Margaret Evanko; brothers, Andrew, Joseph and Paul Bomba.
The family wants to extend a special thanks to Linda Sees for her care and support over the past few years.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, 4 to 8 p.m. and 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Avenue, Amherst.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home with Pastor Terry Adamson of St. Paul Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be given to the Cleveland Clinic Hospice at Home, 6901 Brecksville Road, Suite 10, Independence, Ohio 44131 or St. Paul Lutheran Church, 115 Central Drive, Amherst, Ohio 44001.
