WAKEMAN – James A. Keener, 64, of Wakeman, died August 30, 2011 at Stein Hospice, Sandusky after fighting a lengthy illness, unknown diagnosis. Born October 5, 1946, in Morgantown, WV, to the late W.O. and Marian Keener, of Dog Hill Road. He graduated from Morgantown High School and was employed 32 years as a crane operator and bob shop at Lorain Steel Mill. James lived in Avon Lake from 1968 until 2005 when he moved to Wakeman. James attended the Clarksfield United Methodist Church. He enjoyed auctions, garage sales and loved riding motorcycles. James collected toys and cars. He loved traveling in his RV and visited all but 6 states and 2 provinces in Canada. His greatest joy was his grandchildren, Kevin and Addison who always brought a sparkle to his eye.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Judy (Satterfield) Keener; sons, Michael (Tresa) Keener of North Fairfield and Brent (Aimme) Keener of Rochester, MI; grandchildren, Addison Rose and Kevin Keener; siblings, Roberta (Don) Corwin, JoAnn (Bob) Rockis, Karen (Robert) Guminey and Norma (John) Rohozen all of Morgantown, WV, Shirley (Ray) Corwin of N. Olmstead and Ronald (Juanita) Keener of Masontown, WV; 28 nieces and nephews and 30 great nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his brothers, Paul and Darrell Keener; sister-in-laws, Nancy Satterfield Lofstade and Barbara Raddish Keener; brother-in-law, Dallas Satterfield and in-laws, Richard and Jean Satterfield.
Visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 2 from 4-8 p.m. at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London. A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Clarksfield United Methodist Church, 5151 Zenobia Rd., Wakeman with Rev. Patty Jo Sheldon officiating. Memorial donations may be given to the Clarksfield United Methodist Church or Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio 44870.
