LORAIN - James Alexander Ramsey, 70, of Lorain, peacefully transitioned from his earthly life on November 20, 2013 following a brief illness.
He was born July 14, 1943 in Lorain, Ohio and was one of fifteen children. He was a lifelong resident of Lorain and graduated from Lorain High School. He was also a veteran of the Vietnam War as a Spec V of the 82nd Airborne Division in the U.S. Army.
James was employed by Lorain Thew Shovel and retired from U.S. Steel as an electrician. He enjoyed fishing with his brothers and friends.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 43 years, Shirley Ramsey (nee Virant); four brothers, Robert, Ronald (Bonnie), Kenneth "Mike" (Ruby) and Jeffrey Ramsey, all of Lorain; seven sisters, Maxine Head, Barbara and Kathryn Ramsey and Louise Randleman, all of Lorain, Mary Ann Johnson and Lillian Ramsey, both of Florida, and June Ramsey of California; uncle, James (Aileen) Holliman of Oberlin; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
James was preceded in death by his daughter, Jamie Lynn; parents, Albert H. and Maxine P. (Holliman) Ramsey Jr.; brothers, Benjamin, Albert H III, and John "Tony" Ramsey.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 26, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at Brown-Robinson Funeral Home, 2652 Broadway Ave., Lorain.
