ELYRIA– Jean A. Evans (nee: Meyers), 84 of Elyria, Ohio died Monday, November 21, 2011 in her home under the care of Odyssey Hospice and Bonnie L. Koviak, her care-giver.

She was born on August 3, 1927 in Lorain, Ohio to the late Rosella (nee: Zeigler) and Clarence Meyers. Mrs. Evans was a 1945 graduate of Lorain High School. She worked for the former St. Joseph Hospital, Lorain and Nelson-Stud in Elyria. After marrying Walter, Mrs. Evans moved to Elyria where they owned and operated the Hobby Haven and Elyria Graphics, retiring in 1994. She was an active member from October 4, 1953 in the First Presbyterian Church, Lorain where she served as an elder; she was a former church treasurer. Mrs. Evans had a great affection for animals; she especially loved bird watching. She was a gastronomist who savored good food.
Mrs. Evans is survived by her cousins, Dolores Fries of Missouri, Gloria Lindsey of Texas and Sylvia Gonzales of Lorain, her care-giver, Bonnie L. Koviak of LaGrange Twp., Ohio and a host of friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Walter who died on February 23, 1985.
By her request she was cremated. A memorial service will celebrate her life on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 2:30 P.M. in the First Presbyterian Church, 1897 East 30th Street, Lorain, Ohio 44055 with The Rev. Mr. Wayne DeMarco, lay pastor officiating.
