Joan M. Bailey
AMHERST - Joan M. Bailey (nee Nocleg), age 93, of Amherst, passed away peacefully at her residence on Thursday, May 16, 2013. She was born in Lorain on February 5, 1920 and was a 1937 graduate of Lorain High School.
Joan had formerly been employed by the Lorain City School System as a secretary at Hawthorne Junior High. She retired from the district in 1946.
She was a lifelong parishioner of Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Church in Lorain and was an avid fan of both the Cleveland Indians and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Joan is survived by her daughters Phyllis M. Leher residing in Springfield, Ohio and Beverly J. (Dennis) Muzilla of Amherst. She also leaves granddaughters Annie (Jayson) Atienza and Jessica (Frank) Cea.
Mrs. Bailey was preceded in death by her husband Frank S. Bailey in 2003, by her son-in-law Paul S. Leher, D.D.S., by her grandson Benjamin M. Leher, by her parents Stanley and Victoria (nee Wolny) Nocleg, by her sister Helen M. Brosky, and by her brother Andrew A. Nocleg.
Friends may call Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Tuesday beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. in Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Church, 1454 Lexington Avenue with the Reverend Robert J. Glepko, Pastor of the parish as the celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
