LORAIN - Juan De Dios Vazquez, 76, of Lorain, passed away in his home April 11, 2013, of non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma Cancer.
Juan De Dios was born in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico on March 8, 1937. He came to Lorain in 1956.
Juan was married to Blanca D. Vazquez (née Arroyo) on October 22, 1960; they were married 52 years.
Juan worked as a laborer for Ford Motor Company for over 30 years. He enjoyed gardening; farming his rabbits, chickens, and other domestic animals. Juan was an extremely religious and spiritual individual. He was actively involved in several Church organizations and enjoyed participating in the many Sacred Heart Chapel ministries such as lecture and a leader of the Parrish Charismatic Movement.
Juan is survived by his wife Blanca of Lorain: children: Abel Vazquez of West Park, Florida, Carmen (Eliezer) Feliciano of Anchorage, Alaska; Celia Vazquez of Lorain, Luis (Nilsa) Vazquez, Elyria, Juan (Caitlin) Vazquez, Oberlin, Ariel (Laurie) Vazquez, Broadview Heights, Orlando Vazquez, Lorain, and Adrian (Vanessa) Vazquez, Fairborn, Ohio; grandchildren Alexia, Sheena, Alivia, Eliezer, Bianca, and Steven; great-grandson Chase Graciano; brothers Juan Calixto of Hato Rey, Puerto Rico, Juan Saul Ortiz, Juan Rocky Ortiz, and Francisca Ortiz all of Lorain.
Juan was preceded in death by his son Esteven Vazquez, and parents Juan Simon and Mercedes Ortiz.
His family will receive friends Sunday, April 14, 2013 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Ave, Lorain. Friends may also call Monday from 9 until time Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 A.M. Rev. Father William A. Thaden, pastor of Sacred Heart Chapel and co-celebrant Rev. John Retar Pastor of St. Francis Cabrini Parish, Lorain will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
