Obituary Condolences

ELYRIA - Julaine Van Buren - Niro, 54, of Elyria died Sunday, January 1, 2012 at her home following an illness of several years.
She was born August 11, 1957 in Elyria and was a 1975 graduate of Elyria High School. She spent the year following graduation as a foreign exchange student in Acapulco, Mexico sponsored by the Youth for Understanding program and her home church, The First Congregational Church of Elyria.
In 1976 she moved to Defiance, Ohio where she obtained a Bachelors of Arts in 1980, majoring in psychology and social work. She resided there, working at the Paulding County Mental Health Center until moving back to Elyria in 1984. From 1984 - 1985 she worked on the psychiatric unit of the then Lorain Community Hospital. She obtained her master's degree in clinical psychology from Cleveland State University in 1988. From 1988 - 1998 she worked in the rehabilitation psychology department of this same hospital. She enjoyed crafting, cooking, camping, and the black and white movies of the 1930's and 1940's.
Survivors include her mother Dorothy Van Buren of North Ridgeville, a brother Mark Van Buren of Kittredge, Co., a nephew Mark Van Buren II of Colorado, a niece Chrystal Behan of Westerville, Oh. her former husband John Niro of Parma Hts., Oh., and her beloved dog "Chancey".
She was preceded in death by her father Howard in 1991, her sister Andrea in 2007, and her dearest friend Teri Hageman in 2009.
Anyone wishing to make memorial contributions may do so to: the Paralyzed Veterans of America, the ASPCA, or the Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio all of which she supported.
There will be no funeral services
Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home in Elyria is in charge of arrangements.
