VERMILION - Katherine Elizabeth Elker (nee Leach), 60, of Vermilion, died Wednesday, July 10, 2013 after a lengthy illness. |
Katherine was born July 23, 1952 in Morgantown, W.Va. She had been a Vermilion resident for the past 23 years and had lived in Texas, Florida and West Virginia.
Katherine worked as a house painter for Ken Cassel.
She loved arts and crafts, decorating for the holidays, camping, cookouts, dancing, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Matthew Elker of Vermilion; sons, Matthew (fiancé, Hallie) Pechaitis and Andy Murph; daughters, Julie Pechaitis (fiancé, Kevin Malinowski) of Vermilion, and Janie (Ricky) Knapp of Vermilion; grandchildren, Crystal (Andy) Nichols, Scott (Kelsey) Temple, Meagan Knapp, Emily and Matthew Pechaitis, Ricky Pechaitis (Gabriel), Tyler Malinowski; great grandchildren, Hannah and Kaleb Nichols and Alley P. Temple and numerous sisters and brothers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Icey Pearl (nee Hamrick) Leach; son, Ricky Pechaitis, and several brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends Saturday, July 13, 2013 from 2 p.m. until the time of a service at 4 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion Ohio. The Reverend Jim Peter will officiate.
