AMHERST TOWNSHIP – Lizzie Jones (nee: Dalton), 77 years of age, and a resident of Amherst Township, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain, following a brief illness.

She was born February 5, 1934 in Mintonville, Kentucky where she was raised and lived until she married her husband Bill in 1953. Lizzie had made her home in Amherst for the last fifty- seven years.
She was a loving housewife, mother and grandmother. Lizzie was a member of Old Fashioned Grace Baptist Church in South Amherst for the last fifty-seven years. She loved her church and her church family and lived to serve her Lord. Lizzie enjoyed her time socializing with her friends on the phone, flower gardening, sewing, traveling to gospel singings, camping and relaxing on her front porch with her family. Lizzie's greatest joy was being a grandmother and great grandmother.
Survivors include her husband of fifty-seven years William Harrison Jones; her daughter and her husband Phyllis Louise and Roger Daniel of Wellston, OH.; her sons and their wives Edward A. and Charlene Jones of South Amherst, James D. and Pamela S. Jones of Wellington, Pat and Terri Jones of Strongsville and Calvin L. and April D. Jones of Sheffield; grandchildren, Jenny Derek, Nathan, Nick, Mike, Katelyn, and Madison; great grandchildren, Austin and Logan; her sisters Lorene Vaught of Science Hill, Kentucky, Lou Powers of Taylor, MI., Minnie Thompson and Helen Jones both of Sommerset, KY., and Beulah Jones of Amherst.
She was preceded in death by her parents Clyde and Martha Dalton (nee: Jasper); and by her brother George Dalton, her sisters Lorettia Jones and Mae Russell.
Friends may call Thursday, June 2, 2011 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 3, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Old Fashioned Grace Baptist Church; 500 W. Main Street, South Amherst. The Rev. Doug Connors, will officiate. Burial will be in Kendiegh Corners, Amherst.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Old Fashioned Grace Baptist Church; 500 W. Main Street, South Amherst, OH 44001.
