LORAIN - Lois Jean Lassen (nee Kinder), age 77 and a resident of Lorain, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2011 at home surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer.
Lois was born in Elyria, August 27, 1934 and lived most of her life in the Lorain County area. She worked various jobs throughout the years until she married in 1970 and devoted her time to caring for her family. She loved cooking, especially for family gatherings, flower gardening, crocheting, doing crossword puzzles, caring for her animals, bowling, and watching football (even the Cleveland Browns).
Lois is survived by her husband of 42 years, Alfred M. Lassen, daughters Sue (Terry) Cain of Amherst, Jennifer (John) Jacoretti of Lorain, Janet (Jake) Rosso of Lorain, a son Michael Taylor of Lorain, step-daughters Sandy Wood of Lorain, Patricia (Pete) Richards of Amherst, Judy (Richard) Schwedt of Broadview Heights, as well as 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother Bertha (nee Harris) Martin in 1998 and her step-father Jack Martin in 1980.
Family will receive friends Monday, 4-8 p.m. at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Avenue, Amherst. The funeral service will be 10 a.m., Tuesday at the funeral home with Rev. Mr. Robert Dybo of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Catholic Church, Lorain, officiating. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery, Amherst.
Memorials may be made to the Animal Protective League of Lorain County, 7202 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria, OH 44035.
