Lois June (Derby) Coury Obituary
VERMILION - Lois June Coury (nee Derby), 87, of Vermilion, died Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at the home of her caregiver after a lengthy illness.
She was born June 12, 1926 in Vermilion in the apartment above Bicycles Bills on South Street.
Lois married her childhood sweetheart Glen A. Coury in 1946. After having their four children, she decided she wanted to be a beautician and went back to school. She worked for Mary Avery's Beauty Parlor for many years.
She was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational, Vermilion. Antiquing was Lois and Glen's past time along with spending their winters in Florida. They had also enjoyed camping in the summers with their children and friends. Lois and Glen were also avid ballroom dancers, winning many awards during competitions.
Lois is survived by her daughter, Cynthia (Thomas) Frakes of Venice, FL; son, David (Mary) Coury of Collins; daughter-in-law, Denise Coury of Vermilion; grandchildren that she adored: Charles Gessner, Jessica Becker, Marissa Evanko, Sarah Coury, Jennifer Coury, and Jamie Fantozzi; step grandchildren: Lindsy Frakes, Cortney Sketch, Jessica Moulder, Erica Kelley, Monica Moulder, and Rebecca Stead; sisters Jean Marie (Clete) Bauer of Natchitoches, LA and Sandy Czaster of Ridgeland, S.C.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Coury; sons Dennis and Glen W. Coury; parents, Willis William and Nera Lucille (nee Reid) Derby; and sisters Naomi Derby.
Lois's request was to have a private graveside service at Maple Grove Cemetery with immediate family facilitated by Rev. Louis Bertoni.
The family is thankful for Lois's excellent care provided by Traci Bennett.
