Major "Lance" Hardnett, 75, of Lorain, passed away February 11, 2013 at EMH Regional Medical Center in Elyria following a lengthy illness.

He was born May 28, 1937 in Woodland GA. He moved to the Lorain area in 1960 and later worked for the City of Lorain in the sanitation department. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church of Lorain and a former member of New Bethel Baptist Church.
Major was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching wrestling and spending time with family.
He is survived by his son, Steve (Priscilla) Hardnett of Shiloh GA; four brothers, Gabriel Hardnett of Lorain, Willie Frank Hardnett of Shiloh GA, Preston Hardnett of Decatur GA and Walter Hardnett of Homestead FL; two sisters, his twin Mary Ann (Curtis) Brisby of Lorain and Betty (John) Spraggins of Lorain; two grandchildren, Ashley and Daphne Hardnett; three great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Major was preceded in death by wife, Johnnie Emma Hardnett; daughter, Delphyne Hardnett; parents, Abraham L. and Mary Ann Hardnett Sr.; a sister, Minnie Dowd; three brothers, Fred Douglas Hardnett, Jasper Lee Hardnett and Abraham Hardnett Jr.
Visitation will be held Saturday, February 16, 2013 from 10a.m. until time of service at Noon at New Bethel Baptist Church, 3880 Dayton Ave, Lorain. Rev. Ernest Battle of Antioch Baptist Church is officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
