Mary E. Smith, 82, (nee Fleming) of Lorain passed away on Friday, December 7, 2012 at the Mercy New Life Hospice in Lorain following a brief illness.|
Mrs. Smith was born in Elm Grove, WV on December 14, 1929, the daughter of the late J. D. and Emma L. (nee Schaner) Fleming. She was a graduate of Triadelphia High School in Wheeling, WV.
She was a member of Christian Temple-Disciples of Christ in Lorain and the Christian Women's Fellowship. She was also a member of the A.A.R.P. # 3318 and was a homemaker.
Mrs. Smith enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, dining out with her with friends.
She is survived by sons David W. (Patricia) Smith, of Brandon, FL; Gilbert L. (Cyndi) Smith, of Crestwood, KY and Paul H. (Tracey) Smith, of Oberlin; grandchildren George Etrata, Louis Etrata, Dawn Smith, Cody Smith, 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey B. Smith in 2011, grand daughter Carol England, 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
Friends may call on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 from 4-7 p.m. in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 11:00 am in the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Bradley J. Donahue, pastor of Christian Temple, officiating.
Burial will be in the Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
