AMHERST - Maxine Olive Holloway (nee: Libby), 94 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at Amherst Manor Nursing Home.
She was born June 27, 1917 in Lorain, Ohio. Maxine was a lifetime resident of Lorain and graduated from Lorain High in the class of 1935B.
Maxine's primary focus in life was that of being a homemaker. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Lorain where she was a former president of the Ladies Missionary Guild. She taught Sunday school and Jr. Church for many years as well as serving as church treasurer and Sunday school secretary. Maxine enjoyed camping and traveling with her late husband. Her hobbies included crocheting and knitting.
Survivors include her sister; Merle Raich of California as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years Orbie David Holloway on February 2, 1999; her sisters Juanita Pryble, Ruth Wagner, and Patricia Migra; as well as by her parents Guy and Margaret Libby (nee: Welch).
Friends may call Tuesday, Feb. 28, from 4-7 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Paul Mayo, acting pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church in Lorain will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township, Ohio.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Fellowship Church Building Fund; 5046 Broadway, Lorain, OH 44052.
